Subj.: Inclusion of separate composite Paite Programme in AIR, Aizawl Station
Dear Sir,
I, on behalf of the Paite community and Siamsin Pawlpi, Headquarters, Mizoram have the honour to submit herewith this petition for inclusion of separate composite Paite Programme in All India Radio, Aizawl Station.
We, the Paite, one of the indigenous inhabitants of the N.E. Region of India in general and Mizoram in particular having distinct dialect, customs and traditions feel that we are facing threats to our customs and traditions as guaranteed by the Constitution of India and to promote our distinct culture and literature and being the native inhabitants of Mizoram, we feel that we should be given the opportunity to have a separate composite programme in our dialect like the rest of the other communities in All India Radio, Aizawl Station.
We have submitted representations a number of times in the past for inclusion of Paite Programme in All India Radio, Aizawl Station, but were denied the opportunity as Paite was not a recognised tribe in Mizoram by the Indian Constitution at that time. Now, as you are aware, the Union Government has recognised Paite as one of the tribes in Mizoram vide The Gazette of India Notice No. 10 of 2003 date January 8, 2003 of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Orders (Amendment) Act, 2002 a copy of which is hereby enclosed.
At present, only a few Paite traditional songs have been recorded in AIR, Aizawl Station and one or two vocal song is broadcasted once or less in a week in casual programme like “Ramfate Zai.” Being citizens of India and native inhabitants of Mizoram, we feel that we deserve a permanent separate composite programme on our own dialect to promote our audio literature. Moreover, our community is bestowed with a good number of artistes who could enrich the Programme of AIR, Aizawl with modern of opportunity to express themselves.

Moreover, our community is bestowed with a good number of artistes who could enrich the Programme of AIR, Aizawl with modern of opportunity to express themselves.
We, therefore, pray your personal intervention towards our immediate need to have Paite Programme in All India Radio, Aizawl Station so as to enable us to preserve, promote and propagate our literature, custom, culture and tradition. With this needed Programme, we hope to uplift our socio-economic status with valuable topics within the programme and that the same time to preserve our ethnic identity as Radio broadcast has wide reach and range. Allow me to repeat once again that while this is in the interest of the Paite community throughout India, we are sure it will also serve towards national integration. It may not be out of place to mention here that Paite community may most probably be one of the richest in traditional and modern songs in Mizoram.
Due to the above reasons, it is requested kindly to include separate composite Paite Programme in AIR, Aizawl at an early date. For this act of kindness, we will always be gladful to you.
Thanking you in anticipation.
Encl.: As above with copies of Memorandum submitted in the past for the same and the recommendations.
Yours Faithfully,
